Settlement Options

Students who wish to stay in the country after their studies require a residency permit. Processing for the permit should begin before the study permit expires, as the processing time for the residence permit can range from 30 to 150 days.

  • Two-Year Post-Study Residence Permit: Post graduation, students can apply for a residence permit in order to find work or start a business this two-year post-study permit will be available for five years after graduation.
  • Permanent Residence in Finland: Students can apply for permanent residence which can only be obtained after four years of continuous residence in Finland.
